ASME SA 387 Grade 22 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel that contains around 2.0–2.5% chromium and 0.9–1.1% molybdenum. This specific blend results in high tensile and yield strength, impressive creep resistance, and excellent oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Class 1 plates are provided in a normalized state, while Class 2 plates come in a quenched and tempered state, offering enhanced strength and toughness. Both classes are designed to be easily welded when the right procedures are followed.
