ASME SA 387 Grade 91 is a specialized 9Cr–1Mo–V–Nb alloy steel that contains around 8.0–9.5% chromium and 0.85–1.05% molybdenum, along with vanadium, niobium, and nitrogen. This unique blend gives it excellent creep rupture strength, high tensile and yield strength, and outstanding oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures. Class 1 plates come in a normalized state, while Class 2 plates are quenched and tempered for enhanced strength and toughness. Following proper welding procedures ensures they maintain good weldability.
