Stainless Steel 440C Sheets and Plates are composed of 16–18% chromium, 0.95–1.20% carbon, along with manganese, silicon, and trace elements, with iron as the primary base. This high-carbon martensitic stainless steel achieves extraordinary hardness, reaching up to 58–60 HRC when heat-treated. SS 440C boasts excellent wear resistance, high tensile strength, and good dimensional stability. While its corrosion resistance is moderate compared to austenitic grades, it performs exceptionally well in mild to moderately corrosive environments.
